Requirements For Ohio
A fishing license is required to fish on Lake Erie. Ohio fishing licenses are valid beginning March 1st and expiring on the last day of February of the following year.
A fishing license is not required of persons who are:
- Less than 16 years of age
- Giving assistance to an angler who is physically disabled, provided the 2 persons together are using only 1 line
- Members of the U.S. Armed Forces on annual leave or furlough
How to Purchase Ohio Fishing License
Fishing licenses can be purchased either online or at Wild Wings Marina convenience store.
Please make sure the weather is favorable on the day of your charter. Licenses are not refundable so if there is any question about the weather, please call us.

Do I Need to Carry my fishing License?
Once purchased you can either save it you your phone or screenshot the license. You do not need to have a printed copy of your license if purchased online.
If purchased at Wild Wings convenient store be sure to sign and date your fishing license. Most citations on Lake Erie is because the fisherman forgot to sign and date their fishing license.

New York Fishing License & Regulations
Requirements For New York
You need a fishing license if you are 16 years and older and fishing for:
- Freshwater fish species by angling, spearing, hooking, longbow, and tip-ups.
- Frog species by spearing, catching with the hands or by use of a club or hook.
- Freshwater baitfish for personal use.
Note: You need a marine fishing registration if fishing for migratory fish of the sea and saltwater fish species.
You do not need a fishing license if you are:
- Fishing on a licensed fishing preserve
- Fishing during the free fishing weekend
- Fishing at a free fishing clinic
- A resident landowner primarily engaged in farming (including lessees and members of their immediate families) when fishing on farm lands they are occupying and cultivating.
- A farm fish pond license holder (including members of their immediate families) fishing on waters covered by the license.
- A Native American living and fishing on reservation land.
- A patient residing at a qualifying U.S. Veterans Administration hospital or facility in New York State.

Do I Need to Carry my fishing License?
Fishing Licenses can be printed on plain paper immediately OR mailed via the USPS.
If you choose to print from home on plain paper, YOU MUST PRINT IMMEDIATELY UPON COMPLETION OF THE SALE (this will serve as your legal license document; be sure to have a printer available upon purchase).
If you choose to have your license mailed to you, please allow 10-14 business days for receipt of your license document
